What to Do When You’ve Lost Your Way Towards Your Goals

Setting big goals is exciting, new, and gives you that adrenaline rush that we as entrepreneurs can’t seem to get enough of.

However, that’s not to say that working towards these lofty goals isn’t tough, because damn it sure can be.

Starting a new habit, adopting a new practice, or learning a new system in your business can be difficult. Working towards your epic goals can be downright overwhelming.

We often hear the success stories and pep talks telling us to get started, just continue, don’t give up… and while all of that is 100% true, it seems as though people rarely talk about what to do if we don’t succeed.

We need to normalize discussions about how to move forward when you have lost your way towards your goals.

Because life isn’t perfect. Business is messy. And when you put the two together, life + business can be a straight up roller coaster.

However, no matter how hard it is, with a clear vision and strong “why,” you can do it and it will be so worth it.

Just remember to never lose sight of that vision and that “why,” because over time, when you’re in the thick of building your business and grinding away day after day, it can be easy to get caught up in the daily hustle and forget why you even started in the first place.

When you’re working 40+ hours a week and surviving on caffeine and takeout, it can be hard to remember that you actually started this business so you could have more freedom, more time with your family, and focus more on your mental health and wellness.

Trust me, I speak from experience.

If you are feeling stuck, out of alignment, or have lost your way towards your goals, here are some things that can help you find your way.

  1. Forgive yourself. You're only human and it's okay to fail forwards when working towards your goals. Nobody’s perfect, sister.

  2. Get back on that horse! Not giving up completely is the most important part of the journey. You can always try again and you just might show up even stronger the second time.

  3. Re-examine your goals and the steps you've taken to get there. Maybe you need to re-adjust your timeline, approach it from a different direction, or add more actionable steps. This is the time to get down and dirty and change it up if needed.

  4. Make it exciting! Create a vision board or write a note on your fridge that pumps you up about your goals. Remind yourself why you're making this commitment and let it drive you!

I challenge you to schedule it into your calendar this week to put these 4 tips into action. The new year is slowing down for no one, and you deserve all the success and happiness in the world.
