Looking After Your Entrepreneurial Mind

With everything we’ve been through in the past year, there’s never been a more important time to ensure you’re looking after your mental health. And as an entrepreneur, it’s even more crucial. According to a study by the National Alliance on Mental Illness, 72% of entrepreneurs are affected by mental health issues, either directly or indirectly.

And really, when you think about it, it’s any wonder! Between hard client deadlines, team management and actually running the business, we have a lot going on.

And because of that, it’s so important that we take the time we need to look after ourselves!

Here are my top tips for maintaining a healthy mind and healthy body so you can perform at your best for your clients and team.

Stay Nourished (ie. eat!)

Let’s kick things off with one of my favourite topics...food!

I don’t know about you but when I enter focused work mode, I often find that I skip meals and disregard what I’m putting in my body. Not good. A properly fuelled body supports a healthy mindset and laser focus. ⠀

So how do you ensure that you’re eating food that nourishes your mind and body, tastes good and doesn’t take long to make?

Food prep!

Designate a block of time each week (I choose Sunday afternoons) to prep enough food for the following five days so when you’re snowed under during the week, you can just grab what you’ve prepared knowing it’s healthy and will nourish you for the rest of the workday!

Appreciate And Respect Your Body

A healthy body = a healthy mind.⠀

Your body is an incredible force and it’s easy to forget everything she does for us. So can we all just give it love it deserve? That means respecting it, giving it the fuel it needs, challenging it and get it moving!

Appreciate your body for the incredible vessel that it is. Be grateful for it, support it, encourage it, and most importantly be kind to it.⠀

Get Support

I feel like I mention this pretty much every single time I write but honestly, there is absolutely nothing more important for your mental health than having a support network of friends, family and team members.

The Golden Gate Bridge couldn’t exist without support and for the most part, neither can your business. ⠀

The team you hire, fellow entrepreneurs, mentors, coaches, family and friends...whoever they are build your thrive tribe, appreciate them (you’d be surprised how far a thank you goes), lean on them, celebrate them, and support them too, because you’ll need them for you and your business to succeed.

Lastly…Be Kind To Yourself

In the moments when you make a mistake, in the moments when you feel overwhelmed and out of control, in the moments when you’re not organized and running late, and in the moments when you succeed! Always always always be kind to yourself! ⠀

Speak positively, pat yourself on the back, and always remind yourself of how strong, capable, and incredible you are! Be kind to yourself and watch your productivity and happiness soar!

Today, I want you to take five minutes to pause and check-in with yourself. Listen to your body, your mind and your soul and do what you need to do to ensure you can show up as your best self for your clients and team!
