The Other Side of Fear and Doubt

The truth is, I doubt myself every day.

Doubt comes up in moments where I can’t figure out the perfect workflow of a program or when a mistake or oversight is made that I didn’t have control over. It even comes up when I see other businesses scaling faster than mine.

Those doubts continue to build and build until all of a sudden, I’m in this never-ending cycle. I call it my Doubt Tornado, and this is when my doubts become fears, and I stop showing up the best that I can for my business.

I start second-guessing myself.

That fear can quickly trickle into every decision I make.

The fear of making the wrong choice.

The fear that I won’t exceed every expectation.

The fear that I’m doing this all wrong.

Have you ever felt the same? Have you ever felt suffocated by doubt or consumed by worry?

Over the years, I’ve had to develop and strengthen a few tools to help me climb out of my little doubt tornado. I fight it with the most potent weapons in my arsenal, like positivity, inspiring self-affirmations, champagne (because there’s always something to celebrate), and a lot of dancing.

I lean into it.

I’ve realized that you’ve got to do more than focus on the fear. You have to lean into it, let it hold you up, and guide you. I know it’s scary, and I’m going to be honest with you.

You’re going to fall.

You’ll scrape your knees, but I promise you’ll pick yourself back up stronger and more determined than ever. We don’t have all the answers, and spoiler alert, we’re not perfect, but I’ve realized that doubt and fear mean that we’re growing in all the right ways. It means we’re paying attention.

When we come out (and we do) on the other side of these feelings, we’re stronger, more resilient, and equipped with even more tools to crush our goals.

Don’t let doubt and fear be why you don’t live the life you are meant to live.

Life and business are a roller coaster, and to succeed, you’ve got to lean into the curves of the ride. You’ve got to lean into those doubts and fears so that you can lean into your strengths, passions, and your resiliency.

The magic happens on the other side of that fear and doubt.

You’re stronger and braver and more powerful than you can ever imagine, and don’t ever forget that.
