You’re Allowed to be Human

Real talk. I had a really tough day last week.

I woke up after a sleepless night, holding what felt like the weight of the world on my shoulders.

The struggles and tribulations of my clients.

The stressors of running a business and managing a team.

The expectation to know it all and always get it right the first time.

Yup, talk about pressure.

I had two panic attacks, cried for a total of about three hours, and told myself that I can’t do this.

Oh, and I even poured myself a glass of wine at 12 pm…pacific time.

But you know what?

I got through it.

My COO sent me messages like, “Just tell me what you need me to do, I’ve got it.”

Or “Send it to the team, they can handle it. It’s going to be ok, Ash. Go eat, walk, and take a break.”

[Side note: THANK YOU BRITT]

It’s no secret that we’re in the “hustle season”.

The season where it’s believed that we have to speed up to success, and even though I don’t agree with that mentality, it got the best of me last week.

So you know what I did?

I did the opposite.

Once I felt like I could breathe again, I slowed down.

I took Jake for a long walk, stood outside and just breathed in fresh air and reminded myself that I’m fucking lucky to be alive.

I practiced gratitude, texted friends and family to connect, and topped the slow-down off with a long bubble bath.

I gave myself space and grace.

Oh, and I listened to Taylor Swift’s Red album on repeat.

We’re allowed to sit in the hard days.

We’re allowed to move through them at the depth and speed we need to.

We’re allowed to be human.

If you’re going through it and you need someone, please reach out.

Because together, it’s easier.
