Done Is Better Than Perfect

As entrepreneurs, we often think that we need to have everything figured out in order to start putting ourselves out there. We want things to be just right before we launch our business, market ourselves, or start landing clients. However, I’ve always been in the mindset that done is better than perfect. Read on to learn why this is true and how you can start taking action today!

Why You Should Take Action Now

If you’re waiting for the perfect time to launch, grow, market, or scale your business, I hate to tell you, but you’re going to be waiting a long time! Nothing is ever perfect and no time is ever going to feel “just right.” 

This is the first thing I wish someone had told me when I first started my business - that done is better than perfect.  ⁠If I had waited to launch AK/VA until it was perfect, I still wouldn’t be launched and I wouldn’t have a 7-figure business that continues to crush goals month after month. ⁠

⁠No business begins with the perfect systems, the perfect offerings, or the perfect CEO. Every single step of building a business involves learning, growing, and improving. ⁠⁠We have to start somewhere to figure out what works and what doesn’t. ⁠

The key to success is to just start taking action and get the wheels in motion. You don’t have to wait to market yourself or start landing clients until you have a fancy website or a vault of social media posts. All you truly need to have in place are the core business foundations so you can start onboarding clients and serving them well. 

The rest? It can wait! Once you start taking action and making steps forward, you can continue to adapt, evolve, adjust, and change. 

You’ll never know where to go next if you don’t start.

Once you get the wheels in motion and start taking steps forward, you’ll be able to see which areas you want to grow in and which you can focus less on. 

You don’t have to have a website, a killer social media presence, run a blog, host a podcast, and send weekly emails in order to be successful. 

While these are all amazing ways to serve your audience and put yourself out there, trying to do them all at once is going to be overwhelming. On the other hand, you might not know exactly what offerings feel the best to you until you try out a few different ones! It takes trial and error and getting your hands in different types of projects to learn what you love, what lights you up, and what doesn’t. 

My Advice For Putting Yourself Out There

Whether you’re a brand new entrepreneur or you’ve been at this business thing for a while and are still not gaining the traction you want, my advice to you is to pick one place to show up and go all in. Maybe that’s your blog, a podcast, social media, or a weekly newsletter. Find the one that lights you up and brings you the most joy and focus on that first for your marketing.

On the client side, focus on adding value, serving clients, and honing in on what skills and offerings you love so you can serve them to the best of your ability and get raving reviews and referrals. 

As you learn and grow, you can step into new offerings and new marketing opportunities, but again, remember… done is better than perfect!
